With this book, well-known local historian and author Don Walter completes his three volume 'past & present' survey of the London Borough of Harrow. As in Harrow Past & Present and Pinner Past & Present, he illustrates, by contrasting a wide range of previously unpublished photographs with their modern equivalents, how much the district has changed over the last two hundred years. The ancient settlement of Stanmore, originally two Domesday manors, and the Victorian sprawl of Harrow Weald, which developed rapidly when the railway arrived in the 1830s, had very different beginnings, but their history became intertwined as the borough grew. However well you know the northern part of today's Borough of Harrow the contrasts you will find in these photographs will be a revelation, while Don Walter's text will entertain and inform in equal measure.
