About the Author KEN WHARTON is a former soldier who served five years in an Infantry unit, including two tours of Northern Ireland during the Troubles. His first book on Northern Ireland, A Long Long War: Voices From the British Army in Northern Ireland 1969-98 was published in 2008, and he has also written The Bloodiest Year 1972 for The History Press. He lives in North Yorkshire.
