Moreton-in-Marsh is a popular tourist destination in Gloucestershire. The northern gateway to the Cotswolds, it is for a fairly small town very well known, helped by its association with the BBC comedy radio show Much-Binding-in-the-Marsh and more recently as a filming location for the BBC's Father Brown television series. The town was developed as a market town in the Middle Ages for the lucrative wool trade in the Cotswolds, and still holds a weekly market. The town grew still further in later centuries with the development of other industries and today, alongside its many historical features, is one of the principal growth areas of the North Cotswolds. The author has been collecting old photographs of Moreton-in-Marsh for decades and in this book photographs from his extensive collection as well as other local collections are combined with present-day photographs of the same scene to present an evocative record of the town's changing face over the years.
